Renting vs Buying a Stairlift
Choosing whether to rent or purchase a stairlift often depends on how long the equipment may be required and the layout of the staircase.
Both options provide safe and reliable access to the upper floor of your home, but each has advantages depending on individual circumstances.
Our team is always happy to discuss the options and help you decide which solution is most suitable for your home.
Renting a Stairlift
Renting can be a practical option for customers who prefer flexibility or wish to avoid the higher upfront cost of purchasing equipment.
Rental stairlifts are professionally installed and can often be fitted within a few working days of the home survey.
Typical Rental Prices:
Straight staircases
• From £650 for up to 12 months, fully inclusive
Includes installation, removal and breakdown cover during normal office hours.
Curved staircases
• From £950 including installation for the first six months
The exact price depends on the shape and complexity of the staircase.
Rent to Buy Option
If you rent a stairlift and decide within the first two months that you would prefer to purchase it, you may do so at the original purchase price, with no penalty costs. Any rental payments made during that period are not lost.
Buying a Stairlift
Purchasing a stairlift may be more suitable for customers who expect the equipment to be required long term or who prefer to own the equipment outright.
Typical Purchase Options:
Reconditioned stairlifts
A cost-effective alternative to buying new equipment.
• Straight stairlifts from
£950 – £1150
• Curved stairlifts from
£2400
All reconditioned stairlifts include a 12-month parts and labour guarantee.
New straight stairlifts
• From £1550 with a 2-year guarantee
Custom curved stairlifts
Curved stairlifts are made to measure for each staircase. Please contact us for further information.
Guaranteed Buy-Back Option
We understand that many customers are unsure how long a stairlift may be required. For this reason, if you purchase a stairlift from us we provide a guaranteed buy-back price in writing at the time of installation.
Our policy is straightforward:
•20% of the original purchase price if returned within the first year
•10% of the purchase price if returned in the second year
•After two years we offer a buy-back price based on the current market value
This provides additional flexibility and reassurance should the stairlift no longer be required.
Buy-back values may vary for certain models including the Thyssenkrupp Flow 2A and Flow X.
